Cafe Rayo (November Limited Blend)

An ode to the phosphorescent funk that is Chicha; Peruvian music that stems from Cumbia and Psychedelic rock, with the electric color palette referencing the vibrant wheatpaste posters that line the streets and celebrating the colorful culture of this beautiful country. 

Cafe Rayo is a blend of two Peruvian lots that bring us from the northern part of the country in San Ignacio to the south outside of Cusco. We source this coffee from the highlands in the North from Cooperativa Agraria Frontera San Ignacio (COOPAFSI), bringing in a lot called "Las Damas" that showcases coffee grown by female producers in the region. Peru has many microclimates and diverse terrain, with highlands along the Andes Mountains stretching the whole length of the country. We pick back up with the other component in the blend coming from the Cafe Origenes cooperative, which works with the Otocani community in the South, not far from Machu Picchu in the Sacred Valley. The terrain in Peru can be very difficult to navigate, with challenges from varying elevation and weather patterns; coffee production primarily moves through cooperatives, which provide critical infrastructure when it comes to transportation, quality control, dry milling, and export.
